Why Corporate Finance Mistakes Cost Companies the Most
Corporate finance mistakes rarely show up as big failures — they show up as a discount rate nobody revisits and a capital structure nobody questions. Here is what actually fixes th...
Financial Strategies for Value Creation is an advanced corporate finance and Strategic Treasury Management Training programme designed for Treasury Managers and senior finance professionals responsible for funding, liquidity, financial risk, and capital allocation decisions. The course connects treasury decisions directly to financial value creation, enabling participants to evaluate how financing structures, liquidity positions, risk exposures and capital decisions affect enterprise and shareholder value.
Moving beyond transactional treasury operations, this Treasury Management Course develops a strategic perspective on capital structure strategy, corporate funding strategy, debt structuring, cost of capital, cash flow forecasting and corporate liquidity planning. Participants examine how companies determine their debt/equity mix, manage maturity profiles, select fixed or floating-rate funding, control foreign currency exposure and maintain financial flexibility.
The programme also integrates Treasury Risk Management, interest rate risk management, foreign exchange risk management, derivatives, refinancing strategy and financial distress planning with broader Financial Strategies for Value Creation. Particular attention is given to financial forecasting, working capital management, investment decisions, payout policy, corporate restructuring and strategic financial decision-making. Through practical finance cases, participants learn to connect Treasury and Corporate Finance decisions with sustainable Financial Value Creation while balancing liquidity, risk, funding cost, and long-term strategic objectives.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Financial Strategies for Value Creation uses an executive, decision-oriented methodology designed around the realities faced by Treasury Managers and senior finance professionals. Rather than treating Corporate Finance Training as a collection of isolated formulas, the programme connects financial concepts to actual funding, liquidity, risk and value-creation decisions.
Case studies are used extensively to examine Corporate Funding Strategy, debt structuring, optimal leverage, cost of capital, liquidity management, foreign currency exposure, financial distress and corporate restructuring. Participants work through financial scenarios requiring them to compare financing alternatives, interpret Cash Flow Forecasting information and determine the consequences of different treasury decisions.
Interactive discussions examine issues such as fixed versus floating-rate debt, domestic versus foreign currency financing, refinancing strategy, liquidity buffers, Treasury Risk Management, and excess cash deployment. Group exercises encourage participants to defend financing and hedging decisions from the perspectives of management, lenders, investors and treasury.
Scenario analysis and sensitivity-based exercises are used to evaluate Financial Risk Management decisions under changes in interest rates, exchange rates, funding costs and cash flows. Facilitated feedback sessions consolidate the connection between Strategic Treasury Management, Corporate Finance and Financial Value Creation, ensuring that each concept can be translated into practical treasury and financial decision-making.
Note: Tools, software, and platforms are not provided as part of the course. Where relevant, participants receive insights, demonstrations, frameworks and examples of tools that may support Strategic Treasury Management, Cash Flow Forecasting, risk analysis, liquidity planning and financial decision-making.
Participants should have professional experience in treasury, corporate finance, financial planning, accounting, risk management or a related finance function. Familiarity with financial statements, cash flows and basic corporate finance concepts is recommended. Because the programme addresses Advanced Treasury Management, capital structure, funding strategy, derivatives and financial value creation, it is particularly suitable for experienced managers rather than participants seeking introductory finance training.
Each day's session is generally structured to last around 4-5 hours, with breaks and interactive activities included. The total course duration spans five days, approximately 20-25 hours of instruction.
The programme integrates both disciplines but is deliberately structured from a Treasury Manager's perspective. Corporate finance concepts such as cost of capital, capital structure, shareholder value, payout policy and restructuring provide the strategic foundation. These are then connected directly to treasury responsibilities, including Corporate Funding Strategy, debt maturity, refinancing, liquidity, Cash Flow Forecasting, FX Risk Management, Interest Rate Risk Management and Treasury Hedging Strategies. The result is an advanced Strategic Treasury Management Training programme focused on how treasury decisions contribute to Financial Value Creation.
Financial Strategies for Value Creation differs from conventional corporate finance programmes by placing the Treasury Manager at the centre of value-based financial decision-making. Rather than approaching value creation primarily through valuation or investment analysis, the course examines how funding, liquidity, capital structure and financial risk decisions directly influence corporate value.
The programme integrates Strategic Treasury Management with the major financial policy decisions normally addressed separately in Corporate Finance Training. Participants therefore move from cost of capital and optimal gearing to practical decisions involving debt maturity, fixed versus floating rates, currency mix, Corporate Funding Strategy, refinancing and liquidity.
The course also gives substantial attention to Cash Flow Forecasting, Strategic Liquidity Management, Working Capital Management, Interest Rate Risk Management, Foreign Exchange Risk Management and Treasury Hedging Strategies. These areas are essential to the Treasury Manager's responsibilities but are frequently underrepresented in broader Financial Strategy Training.
Case-based financial decision-making further distinguishes the programme. Participants evaluate competing funding alternatives, liquidity pressures, hedging choices, capital structure decisions and restructuring scenarios rather than studying concepts in isolation. This creates an integrated framework linking Treasury and Corporate Finance, risk management, and long-term Financial Strategies for Value Creation.
